Cleanse Nourish Beautify

Cleanse

By Valli Manley B.C.N.D., CNHP

Cleanse Nourish Beautify was born out of the marriage of the 2 disciplines that I studied. Those disciplines are Esthetics and Natural Health. The thing that I saw with both was that in order to have good skin and health proper cleansing of the skin and internal environment needed to be a lifestyle, not an event.

I taught the 600hr licensing course for the state of NY for 9 years, and without fail, if proper cleansing based on skin type and condition were not implemented, the skin would present imbalances like acne, dehydration, and overall impaired barrier function.

I quickly realized that it wasn’t just about the product; but that the skin, which is the largest organ of the body, is designed to line and protect our internal organs. In its effort to protect from outside invaders, sometimes it may suffer an environmental insult as it valiantly attempts to do its job; when not properly cared for, it may come short in its effort to remain balanced.

it also serves as an indicator of what’s going on in our internal environment. Cleansing should not be an event, it should be a way of life. In order for internal cleansing to take place, all avenues of elimination must be functioning properly.

There are 5 main organs of elimination, they are:

  • Colon– Rids that body of the undigested portion of your food. There are 3 things that you need in order for this organ to function. Although everyone has their own bio-individuality and may vary from person to person, the needs are fundamentally the same. Fiber, Water, and Healthy oil help to keep the undigested portion of waste moving through the large intestines.
  • The liver-The liver is your body’s chemical plant, it is responsible for metabolizing digested food, and converting it into usable nutrients that are released into the bloodstream. It also metabolizes drugs, clears the blood of poisonous waste, and excretes bile which breaks down fat and helps to prevent liver congestion. There are many foods and herbs that support liver function, but there is one that I love and have used for years, and that is warm lemon water. I make it as tea by adding the juice from half of a fresh lemon in 12oz of warm water. Lemon helps to clear the livers’ bile ducts and encourages the colon to contract, encouraging the movement of waste to its exit point.
  • Kidneys-They cleanses the blood as it passes through its organ and converts waste by-products into the urine. The best thing that you can do for your kidneys is to support them with good hydration. If you don’t drink water, the viscosity of your blood will get too thick, especially if you are a meat eater. When that thick blood hits the kidneys, they send a message to your heart to increase pressure, so that the thick blood can move to through the tiny blood vessels inside of the kidney’s nephron filters.
  • Skin– The skin is the largest organ in the body. It lines and protects from outside invaders. When the other organs are suffering from toxic overload, the skin will pick up the slack and eliminate waste through the pores.
  • Lungs-The lungs move oxygen into the body that is needed by every cell tissue and organ to sustain life. It also removes carbon dioxide which is a gas waste created as a result of cellular metabolism. Each cell takes in oxygen but releases CO2 which the body needs to rid itself of. Deep breathing is essential because everything in the human body is connected. Oxygen is also needed for the conversion of glucose into energy inside every cell in the human body. After reading this, go outside for a walk and engage in deep exercise. There are 2 places where oxygen is most plentiful; in the forest or around trees and by water.

As we can see, these elimination organs are vitally important to your skin and internal health. They all remove wastes because the accumulation of toxins is the number one reason why imbalances are present.

I have had many clients over the years who suffered from a range of imbalances. They ranged from skin issues to kidney infections and malfunction, all because of something as simple as not drinking water. When thinking about health building, if water is not a part of your daily health plan, it’s a great place to start your cleansing journey to wellness.
